Tekken 7 felt like a shoestring budget thing in many places and I guess it was, but now that Namco has made a big thing regularly about how succesfull the game has been, and since Harada has risen to a big boss it's time to put some production value back into this thing since this will no doubt be the next Tekken platform for most likely the whole console generation just like Tekken 7 was. Just feel like a premium big budget production again. Since designs can be hit or miss, and they often are now, improve a lot upon the customization with clothing etc.īring back some overall dirt and grime to the atmosphere and presentation. Give me varied body type silhouettes again. No more having every single character be jacked as all hell. No more using same exact torso models for multiple characters. It always was to some degree but it wasn't this bad always.īring back varied body models. Less being so overtly anime with the vibes. Music is a big part of my enjoyment and the mood can get ruined with the same shit over and over especially if they keep going deeper into that wubwub shit which is only ok in smaller doses or with a good melody (TT2 has the perfect use and balance imo). I also do not want their endless battle mode to feature one stage for 10 rounds. I prefer single player content to have more meaning. I prefer new characters having strong ties to the game. I prefer "what if" endings over single round cutscenes between characters that go nowhere and mean nothing to the overall plot. I still laugh at my Tekken artbook that came with Tekken 6 with the same exact characters designs in different poses representing different games as if the page layout was supposed to be this profound vision of the series' evolution. I know the typical response is "lol, fighting games? Story? Lol" but I really do enjoy the art, aesthetics and atmosphere set up by these games, in part from their stories, and wish Tekken would get back on track. why not give her a single round fight with Yoshi in the character battles? Maybe the idea was against Kuma and how she thought she was a real fox and found a fellow woodland creature imposing? (Fuck, Tekken writers are taking notes) Leroy? Fahkumram? Lidia was explained as a leader of Poland wanting to strongly represent her people, but according to the story mode, the tournament was canceled so who the hell are these people and why are they here? but fuck how they present Josie as a crybaby. I can't even tell you about Josie or Shaheen other than I get they represent areas where Tekken is popular. but they barely utilize him and he has some kind of secret that is just there. Gigas could have been a Heihachi terminator for G-Corp but they went with more Jacks.Ĭlaudio I get because Devils and possession.

But wtf is their story in the grand scheme of things? Typically the newbies gain entry in the series because they have a close connection to the story. Gigas exists because? What a shit design when there are other large characters in the game (albeit some coming via dlc). Katarina is so grossly sexualized and has an issue with a missing father or something who happens to be Gigas. Yoshimitsu went from seeking revenge and perhaps suffering physically from his cybernetics, age and sword possession to finding Leo oh so cute and Leo finding him to be so "weird Japanese" because tentacles. Julia has been de-aged behaviorally and has gone from environmental scientist to a v-tuber personified. If Tekken continues on this goofification of the cast and barely feature a motivation or meaningful story, I'm out.
